£12 Million Blitz to Transform London Football Facilities
London’s football scene is set for a major upgrade, with over £12 million pumped into pitch and changing room improvements across the capital. From Barking to Brixton, new floodlit 3G turf pitches, gyms, and social spaces are on the way.
Big Makeover at Parsloes Park and Brittons Playing Field
Parsloes Park in Barking and Dagenham is getting three full-size floodlit 3G football pitches, plus a gym, studio, changing rooms, and a café with social space. Meanwhile, Tigers JFC, the winners of the London Sport Awards, and other clubs will benefit from new facilities at Brittons Playing Field, aiming to fix pitch shortages in the borough.
Inclusive Programs and Community Boosts
On Brixton’s Roupell Estate, local charities St Matthew’s Project and CEF Lyncx will run disability sessions and multi-sport activities at a new floodlit multi-use games area. The Fulham Foundation plans to deliver programmes like Kicks, Walking Football, Wildcats, and Mental Health sessions.
Capital 1 Academy is building accessible changing rooms, and Westminster Academy’s new pitches will support youth outreach projects from the Met Police and community groups including OneYou Westminster, Man v Fat, London Tigers Asian 1, and Unity in the Community.
Level Playing Field Across London Boroughs
Other areas like Brent, Enfield, Greenwich, and Wandsworth are also set for facility upgrades thanks to a government-led initiative. Backed by the FA and Premier League, the Local Football Facility plans aim to boost sports access across the UK by funding essential pitch and facility improvements.
