Heathrow Freight Yard Evacuated Over Suspicious Package Scare
Police Rush to Goldstar Depot Near Heathrow
Chaos erupted at Goldstar’s lorry depot in Colnbrook, Berkshire, Monday night after a suspicious package was reported. Just three miles from Heathrow’s busy Terminal 5, police quickly sealed off the site. Locals within 100 metres of Bath Road were forced out of their homes and a wider 200-metre cordon snarled up traffic for hours.
Major Lockdown Hits Hotels and Traffic
The Goldstar depot neighbours key hotels like the Hilton Heathrow Terminal 5 and B&B Hotel London Heathrow — sparking serious safety fears.
Thames Valley Police said: “We are currently at the scene of an incident involving a suspicious package. A 100-metre evacuation is underway, with a further 200-metre cordon affecting local traffic. This is a precaution while the package is being assessed. We urge the public to avoid the area. We are working with partners to keep everyone safe.”
Experts Declare Package Safe, Crisis Ends
Specialist bomb disposal crews from the Ministry of Defence examined the item and confirmed it posed no threat. Authorities then lifted the evacuation orders.
Police thanked residents for their patience and stressed public safety remains their top priority.
