Body Found on New Year’s Day Confirmed as Missing Woman Katherine Corrigan
Essex Police have officially identified the body found in Ingatestone on New Year’s Day as 27-year-old Katherine Corrigan. Katherine had been missing since July 22, last seen in Broomfield, Chelmsford.
Major Investigation After Katherine’s Disappearance
From the moment she vanished, Essex Police launched an intensive search. Hundreds of officers joined forces, backed by the Essex Search and Rescue Team. They sifted through hours of CCTV and worked closely with neighbouring forces and British Transport Police.
On January 1, a member of the public spotted a woman’s body in Little Hyde Lane, Ingatestone – prompting the grim identification.
Police Offer Condolences and Prepare Coroner’s File
Inspector Sam Girdlestone said: “My thoughts, and those of everyone at Essex Police, are with Katherine’s family at this incredibly difficult time. This is not the outcome anyone wanted, and we are continuing to support her family during this tragic period.”
Essex Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious. They are compiling a file for the coroner to further probe the circumstances surrounding her passing.
