Westminster Tube Evacuated After Fire Alert Sparks Rush Hour Chaos

Westminster Underground Station was forced to evacuate during the evening rush hour today (Wednesday, May 28) after a fire alert shook the busy Circle, District, and Jubilee line interchange.

The evacuation kicked off at around 5.30pm as concerned commuters streamed out, sharing videos and photos on social media showing crowds flooding the station.

“Due to a reported emergency, would all passengers leave the station immediately please,” a loudspeaker announcement warned.

Station Reopens Just 15 Minutes Later

Transport for London (TfL) confirmed the station was reopened approximately 15 minutes after the evacuation, with services resuming as normal shortly after.

Crucially, no injuries have been reported following the alert, though the exact cause remains under wraps.

Commuters React on Social Media

Online footage shows commuters leaving the station calmly but swiftly while emergency announcements echoed in the background.

Although the fire alert caused minor delays on nearby lines, TfL assured that no lines were officially suspended during the incident.
