Massive Blaze Erupts at Morden Recycling Centre
A huge fire tore through a recycling centre on Amenity Way, Morden, in the early hours today. Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters were scrambled to battle the inferno.

The blaze, which broke out just before 3am, involves mixed domestic rubbish ablaze and has drawn crews from New Malden, Mitcham, Sutton, Wimbledon, Wallington, Surbiton, Norbury, and nearby stations. Station Commander Scott Thorpe praised his team’s efforts: “Crews are working extremely hard in very hot conditions.”
He warned local residents to keep windows and doors shut due to thick smoke billowing from the site.
