Fire Erupts on A320 at Heathrow – Toxic Fumes Fill Cockpit
Firefighters from Heathrow’s own fire service and the London Fire Brigade raced to the scene of a full emergency after an electrical fire broke out aboard an A320 on the ground.
The blaze released toxic fumes inside the cockpit, sparking alarms just before 9am on Wednesday, December 21. Ground staff were quick to raise the alert, prompting crews to rush to the Western Perimeter Road at Heathrow.
Rapid Response Quells Flames with Foam Blanket
Multiple fire engines from Heathrow and London Fire Brigade arrived swiftly. Using a large foam blanket, firefighters snuffed out the blaze before it could spread, making the engine safe.
It remains unclear whether any passengers were onboard or the exact condition of the aircraft after the incident.
Flights Unaffected as Fire Contained
Officials say the fire has not delayed flights arriving or departing Heathrow so far. The London Fire Brigade has been contacted for further details.
