Massive Fire Closes A2 Eastbound in Kent – Chaos on the Roads!
A huge blaze has broken out on the A2 eastbound, causing total gridlock. The motorway is shut between the A227 Gravesend junction and M2 Junction 1 at Rochester. Kent Police, Fire Brigade, and National Highways are on the scene battling flames and clearing the wreckage.
Follow the Solid Circle for Official Diversions
Drivers heading coastbound must stick to the diversion route marked with a solid circle. Here’s how to avoid the closure:
- Leave the A2 at Marling Cross junction (Gravesend East).
- Take the 2nd exit at the roundabout, then the 1st exit onto Valley Drive.
- Drive 2 miles to the traffic-light controlled T-junction.
- Turn right onto B261 Old Road East.
- At the A226 roundabout, take the 4th exit towards Rochester.
- Travel 3.5 miles through Higham to the A289/Gads Hill Interchange.
- Non-motorway traffic: take the 2nd exit, then 1st exit to rejoin the A2.
- Motorway traffic: take 2nd exits at roundabouts to join A289 southbound, then keep left for M2 eastbound towards London/West Malling.
