Fire Breaks Out Near Cooks Ferry Roundabout

The Brigade was alerted just before 6am on April 17 following reports of a fire close to the Cooks Ferry Roundabout, N18. The inferno quickly drew a significant emergency deployment as flames blazed under the busy viaduct.

Thankfully, firefighters brought the blaze under control and cleared the scene by 7:19am. However, the incident caused serious disruption for motorists and bus passengers alike.

Traffic Chaos as Roads and Bus Routes Ground to a Halt

The fire blocked westbound traffic on the south side of Cooks Ferry Roundabout. Fire crews worked swiftly beneath the A406 Lea Valley Viaduct, leading to major hold-ups.

Bus services were hit hard. Route 34 towards Barnet was disrupted at the Cooks Ferry exit slip from the A406. Meanwhile, Route 444 towards Turnpike Lane faced delays starting from Hall Lane.
