Firefighters raced to Chedworth Crescent in Portsmouth shortly before 6.45pm after a fire erupted in a bedroom and quickly spread into the roof spaces of neighbouring homes.
Firefighters Battle Roof Inferno
On arrival, crews found the flames had taken hold in the property’s roof and jumped to neighbouring houses. Six fire engines responded, with teams dousing the fire from both front and back of the properties.
A specialist Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP) from Southsea was deployed to fight the blaze from above. Crews blasted water directly into the roofs while using Breathing Apparatus, High-Pressure Jets, Hose Reels, and Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV) to control smoke and extinguish the flames.
Investigation Underway After Fire
The fire was swiftly contained, preventing further damage. An extensive investigation is now underway to determine how the blaze started.
