60 Firefighters Battle Huge Fire
A huge fire broke out at a recycling centre on Johnson Street, Southall at 5:33pm, sparking panic and a major emergency response. Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters raced to the scene to battle the roaring blaze.
“About 15 tonnes of mixed recycling were alight,” confirmed the London Fire Brigade. “Smoke spread forced the partial closure of the Great Western Main Line as a safety measure.”
Rail Disaster: Lines Closed, Travel Chaos
Commuters were hit hard as National Rail warned of disruptions on the busy route between London Paddington and Reading until 8pm.
“Disruption between London Paddington and Reading expected until 20:00,” the rail service announced, leaving travellers stranded and frustrated during rush hour.
Fire Under Control but Cause Unknown
Thankfully, the firefighters had the blaze under control by 8:35pm, preventing further damage. The cause of the fire remains a mystery as investigations get underway.
