Blaze Hits Residential Nursing Home in Regent’s Park – Four Rescued
Fire Rips Through First Floor Flat
A fierce fire damaged most of the first-floor flat in a four-storey building on Little Albany Street, Regent’s Park. The blaze broke out early in the morning, forcing a rapid emergency response.
Firefighters Rescue Four from Smoke-Filled Flat
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus heroically saved four residents from the burning nursing home. Two men and a woman were rescued via the internal staircase using special escape hoods, designed to shield wearers from toxic gases for up to 15 minutes.
A further man was also pulled to safety from the same floor. The escape hoods, while not providing oxygen, filter deadly smoke components like carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide, giving precious time for evacuation.
Casualties Treated on Scene and in Hospital
Two people received treatment at the scene. Two others were rushed to hospital by ambulance crews to recover from smoke inhalation.
Firefighters Bring Blaze Under Control
The London Fire Brigade was called at 7:19am. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Euston, Paddington, and Soho stations battled the flames. The fire was contained by 9:14am.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
