Flood Alert Issued for Medway and Isle of Grain

The Environment Agency has sounded the alarm with a Flood Alert for parts of the Medway estuary and Isle of Grain. Areas at risk include Aylesford, Medway Towns, Lower Halstow, Middle Stoke, and Lower Stoke.

High Tide Warning for Early Monday

The alert is tied to a high tide set to hit at midnight on Monday, 28 October 2019. Flooding could occur between 10pm Sunday and 2am Monday, as water levels surge two hours either side of the peak tide.

Good news: flooding to properties is not expected. However, the Environment Agency urges locals to stay vigilant.

Stay Safe Along Beaches and Coastal Paths

Large waves and sea spray could make beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths, and roads hazardous. The EA warns of higher than normal tides across the next four days and could issue more warnings as the situation develops.

Monitoring and Response Underway

Environment Agency staff are closely watching the situation, managing flood defences, and ready to act if needed.

Key Tide Info: Water levels at Sheerness expected to reach 3.58m at midnight on Monday.
