Radio legend Frank Skinner, 66, was visibly emotional during his Absolute Radio show after revealing his close pal Gareth Richards suffered a devastating accident earlier this week.
Tragic Crash Near Heathrow Leaves Gareth Fighting for Life
The comedian and friend was badly hurt in a serious crash on the M25 near Heathrow Airport on March 27. Skinner said the injuries to Gareth’s head and chest are severe, with treatment by the London Ambulance Service ongoing.
“It’s not looking great for Gareth,” Skinner admitted to listeners, voice choked with emotion. “He is in hospital and he is fighting. I didn’t want to do this show – we didn’t want to do this show – without mentioning him.”
Longtime Friends Share Heartbreaking Tribute on Air
During the show, Skinner opened up about the deep bond between him, co-host Emily Dean, and Gareth.
- “We started the show 14 years ago,” Frank recalled. “The first pilot was rubbish, just me and Emily.”
