Isle of Wight Firefighters Take Charge of New Fire Boat

Fire crews on the Isle of Wight are gearing up with a brand-new fire boat, recently snapped up in a hush-hush deal by the Isle of Wight Council. The boat promises fresh fire-fighting muscle for the island’s waters.

Freshwater Fire Station Leads the Charge

Training kicked off at Freshwater Fire Station as crews got hands-on with the vessel, dubbed H79boatie1 – the only fire boat currently in service for the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.

Ready to Guard Colwell Bay

Once training wraps up, this gear-packed boat will be moored off Colwell Bay, crewed by a select squad from Freshwater’s regular firefighters.

More island firemen are set to join the training by next week, ensuring a full team is ready to tackle any blaze on or near the water.
