Emergency Chaos: Key Station Locked Down After Two Serious Train Accidents
Passengers face major travel chaos after two separate train incidents slammed the network this morning. Since 11.44am today, key stations have been locked down as emergency services tackle the fallout.
Thameslink has urged everyone to avoid travelling “due to multiple incidents across the network.”
Two Separate Train Strikes Spark Major Disruption
The mayhem began at 9.13am when a person was struck by a train between Luton and St Albans City, shutting down all lines between the stations. Disruption was expected to clear by 1pm but has now been extended until at least 3pm, with further delays possible.
Adding to the chaos, a second person was hit by a train between Haywards Heath and Gatwick Airport at 10.55am. Thameslink cancelled all services until further notice and warned passengers not to travel.

Network-Wide Travel Meltdown Hits London Commuters
While both crashes happened outside London, the disruption is wrecking commutes in and out of the capital. East Midlands Railway has suspended all trains between Luton and London St Pancras International.
The Corby to London St Pancras Connect route is also halted. Southern, Great Western Railway, and Gatwick Express are suffering delays and cancellations. National Rail warns journeys through affected areas could be delayed by up to 60 minutes or cancelled as emergency crews work.
