Asuncion Celebrates First Ever Harry Potter Book Night

Asuncion got a magical makeover last Thursday as Harry Potter fans gathered for the city’s very first “Harry Potter Book Night.” The event was hosted by BOOKS bookstore and the British Embassy, in partnership with Bloomsbury Publishing.

Triwizard Tournament Takes Centre Stage

The theme for this inaugural Potter bash was the legendary Triwizard Tournament. Kids and adults alike enjoyed a spellbinding evening filled with games, laughs, and plenty of wizardry at the BOOKS store.

  • Photo booth fun: Fans donned robes, waved wands, and wore wizard hats for memorable snaps.
  • Endless reads: The bookstore showcased a vast collection of Harry Potter adventures.
  • Trivia battles: The crowd tested their knowledge on the fourth book, “The Goblet of Fire.”

Ambassador Enchants Crowd with Dragon Chapter

British Ambassador Matthew Hedges cast a spell over the young audience by reading aloud Chapter 19, “The Hungarian Horntail,” in Spanish. He explained why dragons deserve the spotlight:

“It is a pleasure to me to share with you this chapter where we learn about these magical creatures, among them a Welsh Green. As you know, the Welsh flag has a dragon in it!”

Final Question Decides the Ultimate Potter Fan

Guests tested their wizarding mettle with tricky questions from “The Goblet of Fire.” The nail-biting finale hinged on one question:

“What was the price of the Triwizard Tournament?”

Here’s a hint: it wasn’t just the famed Triwizard Cup!

BOOKS bookstore and the British Embassy are already brewing plans to bring this magical night back next year. Harry Potter fans in Asuncion, get ready to conjure more fun!
