Heroic US Airmen Remembered in Eastbourne
On Sunday, 13th November, Eastbourne & Willingdon MP Caroline Ansell joined other dignitaries at the Butts Brow Memorial to honour the brave crew of the USAAF B24-D Liberator bomber nicknamed “Ruth-less.”
Tragic WWII Crash Commemorated
The bomber was severely damaged by enemy fire during a mission. Flying low in thick cloud, it tragically crashed on 2nd February 1944, killing all 10 airmen on board.
Fallen Airmen Never Forgotten
The memorial service paid tribute to these young heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in the skies over Eastbourne during the Second World War.
