The mystery of Rebecca Simmonds: Missing mum vanished 22 years ago near Gillingham station
Last seen before meeting friends
Rebecca, also known as Rebecca Simmonds, disappeared without a trace on Monday, 25 November 2002. Her grandparents dropped her off near Gillingham railway station that day. She told them she was heading out to meet friends – but she never returned.
Out of character and unresolved
At just 22 years old and a mum to a three-year-old boy, Rebecca’s sudden disappearance shocked everyone who knew her. She lived in Strood, stood 5ft 8in tall, was slim, with mousy brown curly hair. Her vanishing has remained a baffling cold case for over two decades.
Police and family plea for answers
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Kimber of kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent Police said: “We have stayed in touch with Rebecca’s family over the years. They are understandably desperate to know what happened to her and if she is still alive. We have followed up on reported sightings, but none led to finding her. We remain committed to helping her family find closure.”
“If anyone has any information about Rebecca or where she might be today, please come forward.”
