Kent Wrapped in Winter Wonderland as Heavy Snow Warning Hits
Kent woke up to stunning snow scenes this morning, turning the county into a picturesque winter wonderland. But don’t get too cosy – the Met Office warns some areas could see heavy snowfall today.
Heavy Snow Hits Dartford, Dover, and Tunbridge Wells
Dartford, Dover, and Tunbridge Wells are bracing for the worst of the flurries. While Canterbury will see lighter snow from the afternoon, Dover could get buried under heavier dumps. Temperatures will stay biting, hovering around a chilly 3°C.
Ice Warning in Effect – Slippery Conditions Ahead
Alongside snow, Kent faces an ice warning until early Tuesday morning. Ungritted roads, pavements, and cycle paths could become treacherous. The Met Office cautions about “icy surfaces” causing slips and falls as temperatures plunge.
“Some icy surfaces are possible for a time. However, the chance this reduces by dawn on Tuesday as snow showers clear to the west and surfaces dry out,” the Met Office confirmed. The alert runs from 3 PM Monday to 3 AM Tuesday.
Stay Safe and Take Care Outdoors
As the snowy weather continues, Kent locals are urged to take extra care when out and about. Walking or cycling in these icy conditions means keeping safety front and centre.
