Winchester Kids Get Crafty in Fun-Filled Workshop!
On 24th February, Friends of the Family hosted a lively arts and crafts workshop for children aged 5 to 13 involved in their Befriending Project. The initiative supports youngsters and families across the Winchester district, offering friendship and support where it’s needed most.
Creative Fun at Salvation Army Hall
The after-school event at the Salvation Army Hall attracted 7 children and 6 volunteer befrienders. The youngsters dived into a range of craft activities, including making colourful birdhouses and dreamy dream catchers. Using materials like deco patch paper, stickers, paint pens, feathers, beads, and wool, the kids let their imaginations run wild.
Crafts with a Heart
Many creations were destined for special gifts to mums just in time for Mother’s Day. Before the crafting kicked off, everyone enjoyed a healthy snack spread, featuring cheese and ham wraps, houmous and veggie sticks, yoghurts, fruit juices, and flapjacks.
Bringing the Community Together
The event was organised by Sam Hunt, Friends of the Family’s 5s to 13s Befriending Project Leader, who teamed up with creative pro Marnie Hobbs from Fizz Art and Craft Parties to keep the kids inspired and entertained.
Sam Hunt said, “These workshops are a fantastic chance for our children and volunteers to bond and make new friends. The kids loved expressing their creativity in a warm, relaxed setting.”
