Kitchen Blaze Sparks Panic in Kemsley Home
A kitchen fire erupted in a Kemsley house, Sittingbourne, when a pan of oil overheated and ignited. The blaze broke out at a property on Recreation Way, sending smoke and flames through the home.
Firefighters Race to Scene and Douse Flames
Kent Fire and Rescue dispatched two fire engines immediately after the emergency call. Firefighters, suited up with breathing gear, used hose reel jets to tackle the blaze and stop it from spreading.
One occupant suffered a minor burn to their hand but was checked over and treated as a precaution.
Firefighters Urge Caution When Cooking
“Never leave cooking unattended. Pan fires can turn deadly in seconds,” warned Kent Fire and Rescue.
Experts remind the public to stay alert in the kitchen and avoid distractions. If a pan of oil catches fire, do NOT move the pan or throw water on it. Instead, turn off the heat safely, evacuate immediately, and call 999.
