M2 Chaos as Car Bursts Into Flames Near Junction 4
Traffic on the M2 screeched to a halt this morning when a car caught fire near Junction 4. The blaze broke out on the coastbound side just after 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, causing widespread disruption.
Emergency Crews Battle Blaze in Rush Hour Horror
Firefighters arrived swiftly, closing lanes for safety as they tackled the inferno. Motorists faced long delays while crews worked tirelessly to douse the flames and clear debris from the motorway.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.59am to the M2 coastbound between junctions 4 and 5 with reports of a vehicle fire. Two fire engines attended, and crews used breathing apparatus and compressed air foam to extinguish the car.”
No Injuries, But Traffic Snarls Expected
Thankfully, no one was hurt. Kent Police confirmed they were alerted just after 11 a.m. and worked alongside firefighters at the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Though affected lanes have now reopened, drivers are warned to expect lingering delays as traffic slowly returns to normal.
