M27 Crash Shuts Westbound Carriageway Between Junctions 8 and 9
A serious smash involving a car and motorcycle has shut the M27 westbound from Junction 9 at Park Gate. The entire stretch between Junction 9 and Junction 8 remains closed as emergency crews handle the scene.
Traffic Diverted, Drivers Urged to Stay Put
Police have set up a diversion along the A27 and A3024. Motorists are told to exit at Junction 9 and rejoin at Junction 8, following the hollow square signs. Hampshire Constabulary Roads Policing teams from Havant and Highways England are on site managing the incident.
Officers are now turning trapped vehicles around to leave the motorway. Drivers are warned to stay in their cars and follow instructions from police or Highways officers.
Serious Injuries Suspected, Investigation Underway
A full collision investigation is underway and the closure could last for several hours, possibly through the morning rush hour.
Hampshire police have yet to reveal the rider’s condition but suspect serious, life-changing injuries. They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to call 101 quoting ref 818:20/05.
