Double-Decker Bus Goes Up in Flames on A30 — Chaos for Cornwall Commuters
Drivers heading into Cornwall are facing serious delays after a double-decker bus erupted in flames early Tuesday morning on the A30.
Firefighters Battle Huge Bus Blaze
The westbound A30 remains closed between Kennards House (A395) and Bodmin (A389) following the blaze that broke out just after 6am on Tuesday, 7th October 2025.
Crews from Launceston, Bodmin, and a full-time officer rushed to the scene, where they found the double-decker bus engulfed in flames. Launceston Community Fire Station said:
“On arrival, crews were met with a double-decker bus well alight. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used high-pressure jets and thermal imaging cameras to bring the fire under control before handing over to police and highways teams.”
No Injuries Reported, But Recovery Could Take Hours
Thankfully, there were no injuries from the dramatic blaze.
However, a complex recovery operation is now underway. Experts will need to inspect the road surface for fire damage before the A30 can fully reopen.
Expect Long Delays and Diversions
Motorists heading west towards Cornwall should prepare for lengthy delays. Diversions are in place, and drivers are urged to allow plenty of extra time for their journeys.
