Massive Blaze Hits Derelict Factory in Wolverhampton

Just after 9pm on 5th December 2022, West Midlands Fire and Rescue were scrambled to a huge fire at a derelict factory on Lower Horseley Fields, Wolverhampton. The entire building, roughly 15m by 30m, was engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to neighbouring units.

150 Firefighters Battle Relentless Inferno

Four fire engines arrived first but the blaze quickly escalated, forcing an increase to over 20 fire appliances on the scene. Crews used two hydraulic platforms to attack the flames from above, battling tirelessly into the night.

Major Incident Declared Over Safety Concerns

By 10pm, the fire service declared a major incident due to the blaze’s size and its close proximity to nearby homes and the local railway line. Authorities urged locals to keep windows and doors shut for safety.
