150 Firefighters Battle Massive Blaze at Derelict Factory in Wolverhampton

Just after 9pm on 5th December 2022, West Midlands Fire and Rescue were called to a massive fire engulfing a derelict factory on Lower Horseley Fields, Wolverhampton. The old factory, around 15m by 30m, was fully ablaze, with flames spreading fast to neighbouring units.

Huge Fire Response Deploys Over 20 Appliances

The initial response sent four fire engines, but the fire’s scale forced a rapid escalation. Over 20 fire appliances and 150 firefighters are now battling the inferno. Two hydraulic platforms are in use, giving crews a better angle to tackle the towering flames.

Major Incident Declared – Residents Urged to Keep Safe

At just after 10pm, the fire service declared the situation a major incident. The blaze is dangerously close to a railway line and residential homes. Locals have been urged to keep all windows and doors closed for safety.

Fire crews remain on scene working alongside police and Network Rail to control the situation. More updates will follow as firefighters continue the tough battle against the fire.
