Mass Panic as Esso Refinery Flares Up in Hampshire!
Hundreds of worried residents in Hampshire dialled 999, fearing the worst after the Esso refinery kicked into safety mode with a dramatic flaring event.
What Is Flaring?
Flaring is a routine safety procedure where excess gas is burned off to prevent danger. Although it looks alarming, it’s a controlled measure used to keep everyone safe.
Why the Panic?
The huge blaze sent shockwaves through the community, sparking fears of a major incident. But fire chiefs have assured the public that the refinery was simply operating as designed.
“There was no threat to public safety. The flaring was a precautionary step,” a spokesperson said.
Still, the sight of towering flames lit up the night sky, triggering a flood of emergency calls across Hampshire.
