Man Dies as Car Crashes Off Railway Bridge in Hampshire
A tragic crash today claimed the life of a man after his car plunged off a railway bridge near Allington Lane, Hampshire. Emergency crews rushed to the scene just after 12.30pm following reports of the vehicle overturning on the embankment.
Five Fire Engines and Rescue Teams on Scene
Five fire appliances were deployed promptly to tackle the incident. The car smashed through the bridge barrier before landing on its roof beside the railway tracks. At least one occupant was trapped inside the wreckage.
A British Transport Police spokesman confirmed: “We received reports at 12.37pm on Thursday, 09 June of a car on the tracks near Allington Lane, Hampshire. A car came off the road and landed adjacent to the railway line.”
Rail Services Suspended, Road Closed
Hampshire Constabulary has closed Allington Lane for the rest of the afternoon. A police spokeswoman urged drivers to avoid the area, thanking the public for their patience while emergency services deal with the incident.
Meanwhile, all train services between Fareham and Eastleigh are suspended during the rescue operation. Some routes are being diverted via Guildford or Southampton, and delays are widely expected.
