Man Falls Overboard from Stena Line Ferry Near Cairnryan

Tragedy hit on Saturday when a man fell into the waters near Cairnryan, southern Scotland, during the 3.30pm ferry sailing from Belfast. The incident unfolded aboard the Stena Superfast VIII ferry crossing Loch Ryan.

Emergency Rescue and Hospital Airlift

Rescue teams rushed to the scene around 5.50pm. Stena Line launched its own rescue boat, while an HM Coastguard helicopter airlifted the passenger to University Hospital Ayr. Sadly, the man was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police Investigate But No Suspicious Circumstances Found

Police Scotland confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious. A routine report will be sent to the procurator fiscal as inquiries continue to determine what happened. Authorities have stressed that no suspicious factors are currently suspected.
