A 31-year-old man pulled off a brazen theft by stealing an ambulance right outside Royal Stoke University Hospital. The shocking stunt happened just before 8.15pm on Wednesday, 25 March, with a paramedic, a patient, and another passenger all onboard.
All Safe After Ambulance Hijack
Luckily, West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that everyone inside the vehicle escaped unharmed. The stolen ambulance was later tracked down at an Esso petrol station near Chesterton on the A34, at the Liverpool Road and London Road junction.
Police Chase Ends With Arrest
Staffordshire Police quickly stepped in to safely stop the rogue driver. The suspect, a Stoke-on-Trent local, is now behind bars. He faces multiple charges including kidnapping, vehicle theft, drink driving, and refusing to give a breath sample.

“At the time the ambulance was taken, a paramedic, a patient, and a second passenger were onboard, all uninjured,” a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said. “A second ambulance was dispatched to transport the patient safely. We are working with Staffordshire Police to investigate the incident.”
