Morrisons to Shut Scores of Loss-Making McColl’s Stores
Morrisons is set to close a chunk of McColl’s stores after snapping up the troubled chain from administration back in May. The supermarket giant plans to turn all remaining McColl’s outlets into Morrisons Daily shops – part of a bid to revive the brand.
Morrisons to Close ‘Loss-Making’ McColl’s Stores
Out of 1,164 McColl’s stores still trading, 286 already carry the Morrisons Daily badge. The grocer says it will shut the loss-making locations that “have no realistic possibility” of bouncing back anytime soon.
The closures will be carried out “in an orderly method” over the rest of the year.
Jobs in Jeopardy – But Morrisons Offers Alternatives

This announcement caps off Morrisons’ rapid move to stabilise and reshape the struggling convenience chain after rescuing it just months ago.
