London Gears Up for Safe and Spectacular New Year’s Eve Bash

Thousands of Cops on Duty for Big Night

The Met is pulling out all the stops for this year’s return of New Year’s Eve celebrations. Working alongside the Mayor’s office, TfL, British Transport Police, and stewarding teams, they’re set to make sure everyone has fun—but more importantly, stays safe.

On Saturday, 31 December, thousands of officers will patrol across London boroughs, with extra muscle in central London. The fireworks at the London Eye will be the star of the show, lighting up the night sky over Victoria Embankment.

Fireworks Tickets Only – Don’t Get Locked Out!

This year’s London Eye fireworks is a ticket-only gig. No ticket, no entry. The Met advises those without tickets to watch the dazzling display from home. Central London will be packed, so it’s vital to stay alert.

“If you spot anything suspicious, report it immediately. It won’t be a waste of time,” warns the Met. Trust your gut—it could prevent trouble before it starts.

Safe Spaces for Women and Girls

In a bid to protect women and girls, the Met has teamed up with charity Safer Spaces to create a safe hub on Duncannon Street. Staffed by trained professionals supported by police, this space offers advice and support to anyone feeling unsafe.

While created with women and girls in mind, it’s inclusive and open to all who need help during the celebrations.

Transport Tips & Night Out Wisdom

Public transport will be stretched to its limits. Expect delays and disruptions—plan your journey ahead. Licence officers will also be checking bars, pubs, and restaurants to make sure safety rules are followed.

Commander Karen Findlay, leading the operation, said: “Plans have been carefully considered, and we’re thrilled to work with partners for another amazing New Year’s Eve. Book your night out early, plan your route, and enjoy safely. Our officers will be everywhere ready to help.”

Remember, phone signals might be patchy in crowds—agree on meeting spots with your mates before the partying begins.
