Heartbreaking End to Nikki Bulley Search
Louise Cunningham, 41, has paid a touching tribute to her late sister Nikki Bulley with a yellow heart on Facebook. The pair were at the centre of the massive social media campaign ‘Bring Nikki Back Home’ that gripped the nation.
Friends and Nikki’s old school in Essex have also joined the tributes, urging everyone to spread love and support for the family in these dark times.
Tragic Discovery After Weeks of Hope
Ms Bulley’s body was found on Sunday in the reeds along the River Wyre in Lancashire. Nikki had been missing since January 27 after setting out on a walk with her dog in St Michael’s on Wyre, following the school drop-off of her two young daughters, aged six and nine.
Friends expressed deep sorrow. Emma White, a key supporter in the search, said:
“Team Nikki came together on the 27th of January to raise awareness of missing Nicola Bulley. After 24 days of desperate hope, we were heartbreakingly informed she was found in the river — news none of us wanted to hear. Our hearts are broken, but we’ll keep supporting the family.”
School and Community Pay Their Respects
Nikki’s former secondary school, William de Ferrers in South Woodham Ferrers, Essex, also mourned the loss of their ex-pupil.
“It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of former student Nicola Bulley,” a school spokesperson said. “Our hearts go out to her family and friends, many from our own South Woodham Ferrers community. We ask for privacy during this difficult time.”
Police Under Fire as TikTok Cracks Down on Cruel Sleuths
On Monday, Lancashire Police confirmed the grim discovery but faced criticism for revealing private details about Nikki’s life and failing to explain why it took 23 days to find her.
Her body was discovered near a fallen tree partially submerged in the river, found by two passersby who immediately alerted authorities.
Meanwhile, the social media platform TikTok announced tough action against the morbid amateur detectives who flooded the internet with conspiracy theories and distorted rumours, disrupting the search and causing anguish.
“Our thoughts are with Ms Bulley’s family and friends at this difficult time,” TikTok said. “We are enforcing our Community Guidelines by removing content and accounts and limiting the reach of some content by making it ineligible for recommendation.”
Locals have condemned the “ghouls” who descended upon the quiet Lancashire village, turning tragedy into a spectacle.
