Police Launch Manhunt After 6-Year-Old Boy Snatched in Redhill, Surrey

Surrey Police are scrambling to find a modified black VW Transporter van linked to the reported abduction of a 6 or 7-year-old boy in Redhill earlier today. The youngster was allegedly forced into the van at 4.43pm on Redstone Hill, leaving his bike behind.

Van Description Key to Crack Case

The elusive vehicle is described as:

  • Black, modified VW Transporter with an ’02’ registration plate
  • Three BBS alloy wheels, with the front nearside wheel missing
  • No rear windows and no signwriting
  • Chrome sidesteps and a sliding side door

Details of Missing Boy and Abandoned Bike

The child is described as:

  • White male, approximately 4ft tall
  • About 6 or 7 years old
  • Wearing a red t-shirt and navy blue jeans

His abandoned bike was found at the scene:

  • Small Frantic Giant mountain bike
  • Silver frame with black and yellow details

Police Urge Public to Speak Up

Superintendent Bex Smith stressed the seriousness of the case:

“This is an incident we are taking extremely seriously and are asking for anyone with any information regarding the child, the van or what happened to come forward. If you were in the area, perhaps commuting to or from Redhill train station at the time please get in touch with us if you saw anything suspicious. At this stage we are not ruling out a number of options, including whether the child and the person in the van know each other.”

Officers, supported by the National Police Air Service, are maintaining a visible presence in the area as investigations continue.
