Armed Police and Helicopter Scramble in Dover After Threat Report
Armed officers from Kent Police, backed by a dog unit and a helicopter, were scrambled to a Dover address this evening following a reported threat.
Heavy Police Presence Sparks Tension
Two marked police vehicles and an unmarked BMW X5 sealed off a property near the railway bridge, locking down the area. Armed officers were spotted shining torches into the window of number 36 in the street.
A police helicopter hovered overhead, providing commanders with a live aerial view of the unfolding situation.
Neighbour Watches as Police Search Property
A local resident captured footage of officers illuminating the property with their torches as the tense operation continued.
Kent Police Confirm Threat Report and Ongoing Search
A Kent Police spokesperson said:
Police officers were called at 6:53pm on 31 July 2020 after a woman reported being verbally threatened by a man known to her in 1 Road, Dover. Officers, including firearms units, attended to conduct a search of the area. The police helicopter also assisted. Enquiries to locate the man are ongoing.”
The investigation remains active as police work to trace the suspect.
