Shock Attacks in Covent Garden Leave Elderly Man Fighting for Life
Violent Assaults Rock Covent Garden
The Met Police are on the hunt after two brutal assaults in Covent Garden on October 12. The first attack happened just after 10.30pm near the Royal Opera House when an off-duty officer was suddenly punched in the back of the head. Luckily, he escaped injury.
Moments later, the same suspect struck again on King Street, targeting a man in his 70s.
Elderly Victim Suffers Horrific Injuries
The second victim was pushed to the ground, suffering a dangerous bleed on the brain. He briefly lost consciousness, needed 15 stitches to the back of his head, and now faces life-changing injuries.
The two victims are strangers, and police have yet to find a motive.
Suspect Profile & Police Appeal
- White male
- Approx. 5ft 9in tall
- Medium build
- Wearing a black jacket
The suspect was last seen heading towards Bedford Street. Officers have released a CCTV image and are begging witnesses to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Glenn Smith said: “This was a serious incident which left a man in his 70s with life-altering injuries.”
“The attacks appear to be random. We urgently need witness accounts or any information that could help our investigation.”
“We’ve released CCTV footage of a man we want to speak to in connection with this crime. Do you recognise him?”
