Power Cut Plunges Sandown Homes into Darkness

Hundreds of homes in Sandown on the Isle of Wight were hit by a sudden power cut on Sunday evening, July 15.

Blackout Hits 1 and The Lake Areas

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) confirmed a fault left properties in the 1 and The Lake neighbourhoods without power. The outage sparked frustration as residents were plunged into darkness during prime evening hours.

Engineers Race to Fix ‘Complex’ Fault

SSEN described the blackout as a “complex” issue and said engineers were working urgently to restore power. They initially estimated electricity would be back by 8.45pm.

Power Restored Just After 8.30pm

Good news came shortly after 8.30pm when SSEN announced that power had been restored to all affected homes. The total number of properties impacted remains unclear.
