East Sussex pianist jailed for vicious groin stabbing and bleach attack after sex refusal
Brutal Attack in Hastings Flat
A talented pianist from East Sussex has been locked up for seven years after stabbing her boyfriend in the groin and dousing his face with bleach when he spurned her advances, a court heard. Marlena Meczynska-Shiibashi, 38, launched the shocking assault on her 50-year-old partner in her Hastings flat after he refused to have sex again.
Lewes Crown Court revealed she waited until he had fallen asleep before pouring bleach over his face and stabbing him, narrowly missing his genitals. The pair had been in a volatile on-off relationship for over a decade.
Intent to Injure
Meczynska-Shiibashi admitted during her trial that she “wanted to harm his penis but missed.” She pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The court heard the pair initially had sex but after she failed to climax, he left to run errands. When he came back and refused her further advances later that night, she snapped.
Victim’s Terrifying Ordeal
The victim told the court he was jolted awake by liquid on his face — bleach, blinding and disorienting him. He then felt warm blood running down his leg from the stab wound.
Despite being attacked again as she brandished a knife, he managed to fend her off with a cardboard box and escaped, found naked and bleeding by their landlord in the hallway.
Judge Slams Manipulative Attacker
During arrest, Meczynska-Shiibashi asked police if she had hit his genitals and admitted being “massively drunk and stoned” when she grabbed the knife and bleach.
She claimed self-defence and alleged serious sexual abuse, but the court found no proof and described her as controlling and coercive in the relationship.
Judge Christine Laing KC called her “a liar and very manipulative,” who used false abuse claims to excuse her violence.
Alongside her seven-year prison term, Marlena faces four years extended licence and an indefinite restraining order banning her from contacting her ex.
