Sainsbury’s Issues Urgent Recall on Popular Spanish Chorizo Over Listeria Fears

Chorizo Recall Sparks Health Alert

Sainsbury’s has launched a full recall of its “Taste the Difference Spanish Chorizo Iberico Ring” across all date codes. The move comes after the discovery of Listeria monocytogenes bacteria in some packs, sparking serious health concerns.

Affected Products and Risks

  • Product: 200g Taste the Difference Spanish Chorizo Iberico Ring
  • Use-by Dates: 23 November 2023 to 16 January 2024 (inclusive)

Listeria can cause flu-like symptoms such as high fever, muscle aches, chills, nausea, and diarrhoea. Though mostly mild, it can lead to dangerous complications, like meningitis, especially for vulnerable groups.

What You Need to Do

Sainsbury’s is urging customers who bought the chorizo not to eat it. Instead, return the product to any Sainsbury’s store for a full refund—no receipt needed.

In-store notices will guide shoppers, while further help is available online or via the customer Careline.
