School Coach Crashes Into Scaffolding in Sheerness
A school coach carrying children slammed into scaffolding in Sheerness town centre this afternoon. The Travel Master-operated single-decker was turning left off the A250 onto St George’s when it clipped the overhanging structure, which had only been installed hours earlier.
Children Escape Unharmed, But Scaffolding at Risk
Thankfully, all four passengers onboard escaped without injury. But the scaffolding hasn’t been so lucky. It’s now at serious risk of collapse, threatening nearby buildings and sparking safety fears in the community.
Residents Slam Poorly-Placed Scaffolding
“It was only a matter of time before someone crashed into it,” said one local, who asked to remain anonymous.
“To be fair to the coach driver, I saw them put that scaffolding up and immediately thought the last three poles would cause problems for buses and coaches. I’ve been waiting all day for this to happen. The installers put them too far out on a road used heavily by large vehicles,” added another frustrated resident.
The incident raises questions about the safety and placement of temporary street structures in busy town centres. More details to follow as the story develops.
