Paedophile Richard McAdam Jailed for 11 Years Over Child Sex Crimes
Richard McAdam, 60, from Rixton Grove, Thornton, was locked up today at Preston Crown Court for a horrific series of sex offences against children.
Decades-Old Abuse Brought to Justice
McAdam was arrested in August 2017 after Lancashire Police acted on a victim’s complaint. She claimed he raped her in 2001 when she was just 12 years old. Another woman came forward, revealing McAdam indecently assaulted her repeatedly between 1995 and 2000, during her childhood.
Despite denying the charges, McAdam was convicted in December of 20 sex offences. These included:
- Four counts of rape
- Four counts of sexual assault
- Two counts of assaulting a child by penetration
- Ten counts of sexual activity with a child
History of Child Exploitation and Abuse
This wasn’t McAdam’s first brush with the law. In 2014, he was jailed for four and a half years after trying to organise prostitution of a young girl in the Philippines. Police uncovered links between McAdam and a criminal involved in paying for child sex shows in the Far East, some broadcast live via webcam.
A global operation led to a search of McAdam’s Blackpool home, where officers found he had accessed indecent images of children. He had also communicated with a man in bristol/" title="Bristol" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Bristol regarding possible abuse of a four-year-old girl.
McAdam pleaded guilty to:
- Arranging or facilitating child prostitution
- Attempting to arrange a child sex offence
- Eight offences of making indecent photographs of a child

Today’s 11-year sentence reflects the brutal nature of McAdam’s crimes. Lancashire Police praised the victims for coming forward and urged anyone affected by abuse to speak out.
