Masked Gunman Opens Fire on Taxi Near Liverpool School, Lockdown Enforced

A Liverpool primary school was plunged into lockdown this morning after a man wearing a balaclava opened fire on a taxi in broad daylight. The shocking incident unfolded at around 11:15am on York Terrace in Everton.

Gunshots Fired from Electric Bike

Witnesses reported a man riding a Sur-Ron electric bike fired two shots at a black Hackney cab before speeding off towards Everton Valley. Police raced to the scene, but there have been no reports of injuries. The taxi reportedly drove away safely from the gunfire.

School Locked Down Amid Safety Fears

Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School, situated close to the scene, was immediately placed in lockdown on police advice. A school spokesperson reassured parents:

“Due to a police incident outside of school, we have been advised by police to keep all children indoors and there is currently no access to school. All children are safe and well.”

A receptionist confirmed, “everyone is safe in school,” while armed officers and forensic teams combed the area for clues.

Police Urge Public to Come Forward

Chief Inspector Andy Hughes slammed the brazen attack as a “reckless act” with the potential for tragedy.

“This happened in a residential area in broad daylight. Luckily, no one appears to have been hurt. We are urgently tracing the taxi and the bike rider,” Hughes said.

“If you were near 1 Terrace or Northumberland Terrace around 11am and saw the bike or have dashcam footage, please contact us.”

“We know how dangerous it is when guns are involved. The public’s help is vital to stop this escalating.”
