The first 999 call came in around 1:10pm, reporting a serious fire situation. Early images show crowds gathering as flames consume several houses. Many homes look badly damaged. It’s still unclear if anyone is hurt or trapped inside the burning buildings.
Firefighters Battle Blaze With Heavy Hoses and Rescue Gear
Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed their crews are using main and high-pressure hose jets to fight the fire, all while wearing breathing apparatus for safety. The operation is intense, with a height vehicle and technical rescue team also on scene.
A Kent Fire spokesperson said: “Several properties are being affected by a fire that is currently being attended to by Kent Fire and Rescue Service on Jubilee Crescent in Gravesend. Nine fire engines, a height vehicle, and the technical rescue team are currently on the scene.”
The situation remains fluid as crews continue battling the flames and checking for casualties.
