Man Jailed for Life Over Shocking Mass Shooting Plot Disguised as Police Officer
Reed Wischhusen, 32, has been locked up for life after planning a deadly mass shooting spree disguised as a police officer. The chilling scheme involved explosives, firearms, and a hit list of 10 people he blamed for personal grudges.
Targeted Attacks on School and Police HQ
Wischhusen aimed to unleash terror at his former school and Avon and Somerset Police Headquarters in Portishead. His arsenal included improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and a submachine gun, all outlined in a detailed document he created to kill his targets.
Plot Uncovered After Armed Standoff
The sinister plan came to light when Wischhusen pointed a gun at armed officers outside his home in Wick St Lawrence. He was shot by police but survived after officers administered emergency first aid.
Police found a vintage lathe he used to modify firearms, instructions for building a submachine gun, police uniforms, body armour, and Avon and Somerset Police badges in his house.
Judge Labels Him ‘Dangerous’; Officers Commended
At Bristol Crown Court, Judge Martin Picton called Wischhusen a “dangerous individual” risking many lives. Four officers involved in the arrest received Crown Court Commendations for their bravery and quick action.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Dewfall praised the police professionalism and thanked the jury for recognising the grave threat Wischhusen posed.
Specialist Prosecutor Andrew Pritchard revealed Wischhusen’s grim fascination with mass shootings and his intention to terrorise his targets. Thanks to the prosecution, Wischhusen has been stopped cold, removing all risk to the public.
