A foul chemical stench forced the sudden evacuation of the Smallholders Club in Springvale, Gillingham on Tuesday night. Emergency crews raced to the scene after party-goers reported the overpowering scent coming from the club’s toilets.
Firefighters and Police Rush In
Four fire engines, crews from South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb), and Kent Police swarmed the area to keep the public safe. Staff acted fast, clearing the venue amid growing panic as the strange smell spread.
“We responded to reports of a chemical smell at a premises in Gillingham. Crews worked to ventilate the building and ensure the area was safe. Investigations into the source of the smell are ongoing,” said a Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.
