Sri Lankan Airlines Captain Grounded After Bizarre Cockpit Lockout

Sri Lankan Airlines has slapped a grounding order on a captain following a mid-flight drama aboard a Sydney to Colombo flight. The pilot locked his female copilot out of the cockpit during her toilet break, sparking a heated row over safety protocols.

Toilet Break Turned Turmoil

The kerfuffle erupted when the captain accused the copilot of abandoning the cockpit without ensuring another crew member was present, as required by standard operating rules. The dispute escalated until the captain physically locked the door, leaving the copilot stranded outside.

“The airline is fully cooperating with the relevant authorities, and the captain has been grounded pending the outcome of the investigation,” said Sri Lankan Airlines.

Authorities Step In as Safety Questions Mount

Sri Lanka’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has launched a probe into the bizarre incident which unfolded on what should have been a routine international flight. The airline insists it is working closely with investigators and has withheld further details for now.

The episode has raised eyebrows over cockpit crew professionalism and strict adherence to vital safety procedures in the air.
