Covid Outbreak Hits Shinfield View Care Home
A serious Covid-19 outbreak has struck Shinfield View care home in Berkshire. A shocking 18 staff members and 32 residents have tested positive, putting the vulnerable community at risk.
Council Confirm Outbreak, Act Fast
A Council source confirmed the outbreak at the nursing and personal care home, which houses up to 66 elderly residents. They said:
“We can confirm we are aware of a number of cases involving residents and staff at Shinfield View care home. Our first priority is the safety of all involved.”
An Outbreak Control Team has been set up, working closely with management to provide advice and support. Authorities are also liaising with the local Clinical Commissioning Group and Public Health to assess further actions under the local outbreak control plan.
Care Home Vows Support Amid Crisis
A spokesperson, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed deep concern over the ongoing impact of the pandemic:
“We are greatly saddened by the ongoing impact of the coronavirus pandemic and are putting all our resources and energy into supporting and protecting everyone in our homes through this very difficult time.”
They added that daily updates are provided to care authorities on confirmed and suspected cases, and families of residents are kept fully informed. Strict infection control measures— including social distancing and barrier nursing—are in place, with continuous health monitoring of residents and staff.
The spokesperson concluded by thanking staff for their relentless efforts:
