A 67-year-old man from Grangetown has been locked up for stalking two young women, following a thorough South Wales Police probe.

Zulfkar Ahmed Jailed for Three Years

Zulfkar Ahmed was sentenced to three years behind bars on April 15 after being found guilty at Cardiff Crown Court. The verdict came after a four-day trial on February 13, despite Ahmed’s initial not guilty plea.

Relentless Harassment Over Several Years

Ahmed stalked one victim between 2022 and 2025, and another between 2024 and 2025. Both women first met Ahmed at their workplaces.

  • The first victim, 24 at the time, encountered Ahmed as a customer in a café where she worked. Initially chatting about a job offer, she soon felt uneasy as Ahmed’s messages became relentless. Over three years, he bombarded her with over 10,000 texts despite being blocked.
  • Ahmed also turned up at her workplace regularly, sprayed her with perfume, approached her on the street, and attempted to gift her a purse and a bag — all unwanted advances.
  • The second victim, just 18, met Ahmed in 2024 during her shift. He asked personal questions, tried to offer academic help, and pried into her schedule. His constant visits forced her to hide in staff-only areas.
  • Ahmed even pressed coworkers for her whereabouts, confronting them when told she wasn’t working and citing her car’s presence as proof.

Breached Landmark Stalking Protection Order

Ahmed was slapped with a stalking protection order, reportedly the first of its kind in Cardiff and Vale for a stranger stalking case. But he blew the order by following one victim on social media, sealing his fate behind bars.

“He never said anything sexual,” Ahmed claimed when challenged by managers, failing to hide his obsessive behaviour.
