British Teen, 19, Goes Missing in Tenerife Mountains After Night Out

Lost in the Hills After Festival Fun

Jay Slater, 19, a British holidaymaker, vanished in Tenerife after telling a mate he “didn’t know where he was” and urgently needed water. The teen was last spotted alone “in the middle of mountains with nothing around” as he tried to find his way back to his holiday apartment. It was his first trip abroad without parents, travelling to the NRG Tenerife Weekender music festival.

Last Seen on Mountain Hiking Trail

Jay’s friend Lucy revealed he never returned after staying with some new pals. After a night out, Jay ended up somewhere unfamiliar. His phone was almost dead and his final location ping came from a hiking path near the remote village of Masca, deep in the mountains.

Lucy said Jay had visited a friend’s house without realising how far it was. The next morning, he set off walking, depending on his phone’s Maps app—then got hopelessly lost. His desperate call to Lucy came at 8.30am, just before his phone died.

Massive Rescue Effort Underway

The Tenerife Civil Guard has launched a full-scale search with police helicopters, mountain rescuers, and drones scouring the rugged terrain of the Rural de Teno Park—a hotspot for hikers. The Greim mountain rescue team is also involved, racing against time to find Jay.

Family and Friends Fear the Worst

Jay was last seen in a white T-shirt, shorts, and trainers. His family and pals are anxiously awaiting any news, clinging to hope as the search continues. Authorities warn the situation is urgent as they comb the dangerous mountain area trying to bring Jay home safe.
