Met Police Warn: No Protests Allowed Amid Covid Crackdown
Government rules ban gatherings of more than two people — with no exceptions for protests. The right to protest is clamped down hard to protect public health during the pandemic.
Stay Home or Face Fines and Arrests
The Met Police are urging Londoners to avoid central London protests to stop Covid spreading. Large crowds risk lives in a city already battling high infection rates.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor warns: those flouting the rules will face firm action. “People who gather as part of the protest risk the health of Londoners,” he said.
Police officers will be out in force, asking crowds to disperse. If protesters refuse, expect fixed penalty notices or even arrests.
Police Plea: Save Lives, Skip the Protest
“These are not normal times. London has seen high infection rates with many people hospitalised,” Taylor said. “We don’t want to enforce the law but will if necessary. We urge everyone to reconsider joining protests and stay home instead.”
After a year of sacrifices, Londoners are being told to put safety first — and avoid fuelling the pandemic with mass gatherings.
